Human remains have been found on a mountain near Aviemore.
The remains were found by members of the public in the Monadhliath Mountains.
The discovery was made on Sron Mhic Gille-Mhartainn at around 2.20pm on Thursday.
It is thought to be the body of a man reported missing in 2009 by Metropolitan Police.
A Northern Constabulary spokesman said the man's identity would not be released until next of kin have been informed.
A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
