Former Stornoway ferry to be sold for scrap after 40 years of service

Ferry: The MV Suliven was replaced by a newer boat.

The former Stornoway ferry MV Suliven is to be scrapped after 40 years of service.

The 87m long vessel is to be sold and broken up for parts.

For 20 years the Norwegian built Suliven had sailed the Minch and was the largest ship in the Caledonian Macbrayne fleet when it launched in 1975.

She was then sold on to Strait Shipping and operated in New Zealand and Fiji.

Offers are being invited for the ship and its sales broker says delivery can be arranged worldwide.
