A82 north of Loch Lomond reopens after two-car collision

One of the main roads to the Highlands was closed for three hours after a road crash, forcing diversions of up to 40 miles.

The A82 was closed between Crianlarich and Inverarnan, at the north end of Loch Lomond, until Thursday evening after two cars collided just before 3pm on Thursday. Central Scotland Police reopened the road just after 6pm.

Neither of the two people involved was seriously injured, but police said one of the cars overturned and one driver had to be been taken to hospital with a minor leg injury.

The A82 from Glasgow to Inverness is the main route to popular tourist destinations such as Loch Ness and the Isle of Skye.

Diversions via Inveraray added up to 40 miles to the route and as much as an hour to journey times.
