A man was critically ill in hospital on Saturday after a car crash.
The victim was seriously hurt in the accident, which happened in Beauly in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The man, who was driving an Audi, was taken to the Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where staff said he was in a critical condition.
The accident happened at around 3.10am on Croyard Road in Beauly.
Northern Constabulary said the road had been shut while an investigation into the collision took place.
