A body pulled from the Forth and Clyde Canal on Friday has been confirmed as that of a 76-year-old man.
Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to the waterway near Symington Drive in Falkirk at around 2.40pm after the corpse was discovered.
Emergency personnel remained at the scene following the recovery. Police said the death was not thought to be suspicious but a report would be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 2.40pm on Friday, July 2, 2021 to the Forth and Clyde Canal in Falkirk following the discovery of a body within the water.
“The body of a 76-year-old man was recovered from the water.
“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and as with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
