A man was found hiding in a shed after overturning a car in the early hours of the morning.

Police were called to the crash on the A703 Leadburn to Peebles road at 1.30am on Saturday.

They found a Vauxhall Corsa lying upside down on the carriageway but there was no one in or near the vehicle.

Emergency services used police dogs and thermal imaging to search the surrounding areas for the driver.

Police said a man was then tracked down hiding in a garden shed.

Lothian and Borders Police have charged a 37-year-old man with failing to stop and failing to report a road traffic collision in connection with the incident. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
