A cyclist has died following an early morning accident in Fife.

A black Vauxhall Astra and a bicycle collided on the A985 Kincardine bypass at around 2am on Sunday.

The male cyclist was taken by emergency services to Larbert Hospital where he later died.

The road, which was closed at the time to allow investigations to be completed, has since been reopened.

Fife Constabulary's deputy head of road policing Inspector Brenda Sinclair said: "We are investigating the cause of this crash.

"I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the black Vauxhall Astra or the pedal cycle, or the immediate aftermath, or anyone who was in this area about 2am this morning to contact the Police on 0845 600 5702."

Further details of the deceased man are expected to be released once his family have been informed.
