Police searching for the driver of a car which crashed into a tree killing a passenger have traced a man.
Stefan Sakatiuk died from the injuries he got when the silver Vauxhall Signum he was travelling in crashed on the B7015 Sheephousehill Road in Fauldhouse, West Lothian.
The 34-year-old, from Fauldhouse, was in the front seat of the vehicle when it careered into a tree at 7.45pm on Tuesday close to the Sheephousehill Road junction with Breichwater Place.
On Friday, Lothian and Borders Police said they had traced a man. They are still appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.
Mr Sakatiuk's family paid tribute to him in a statement released through police.
His father and two brothers said: "It is a terrible shock to the whole family, Stefan was a much loved son and brother, who especially loved his mum. Stefan will be dearly missed and we cannot believe that this has happened."
