A body has been found in the search for a missing teenager in Edinburgh.

A major search operation was launched by police after Jasmine Macquaker, 14, disappeared on Sunday night.

Police Scotland said her death is being treated as unexplained.

A body was recovered from the coastline at North Queensferry on the Firth of Forth on Monday after a member of the public raised the alarm at around 7am.

A police spokesman said: "Formal identification is yet to be carried out however Jasmine’s family have been informed and have requested that their privacy be respected at this very difficult time.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained."

Jasmine was reported missing on Sunday night and was believed to have boarded a train to Dalmeny Railway Station from Edinburgh Waverley Station.
