Officers have concluded a search of the grounds of a country house and nearby golf course where human remains were discovered last month.

Extensive forensic work was carried out around Gogar Mount House and nearby Gogarburn Golf Club on the outskirts of Edinburgh following the grim discovery on January 9.

Detectives leading the investigation say the death is being treated as unexplained.

STV News understands that one line of inquiry is that the victim was a missing woman from London. The remains are still being examined by experts.

A police spokeswoman said: "Inquiries are ongoing to identify the human remains found at Gogar Mount."
