A little girl was approached by a man in a car as she walked home from school.

The youngster was walking along Whitehouse Road in Cramond, Edinburgh, on Tuesday when the man stopped and spoke to her.

It is understood he told the girl he would give her an iPad if she got in his car.

A police spokeswoman said: "Police are investigating an incident in the Cramond area of Edinburgh after a man stopped in a vehicle and spoke to a young child on her way home from school.

"This incident occurred around 3.15pm on Tuesday on Whitehouse Road, Edinburgh. Police will be carrying out increased patrols in the area to offer reassurance and are in contact with the City of Edinburgh Council education department."
