PHOENIX (Reuters) - Valero Energy Chief Executive Bill Klesse said on Sunday the company was interested in buying a refinery in the United Kingdom.

"We are interested in looking at the UK refineries," said Klesse.

Earlier this month, Chevron said it was putting its Pembroke refinery on the block. French major Total S.A. is expected to put its Lindsay refinery in the U.K. up for sale to meet its goal to cut refinery capacity.

Klesse said he does not anticipate Valero putting any more of its refineries up for sale.
